How a partner network can bring destination success

We’ve been writing a lot recently about marketing for Destination Management Organizations (DMOs). You can check out our free eBook ‘The Destination Marketing Handbook’, which is filled with useful tips on how to market your destinations and experiences.

Skift recently published a blog titled '4 Trends Defining Tourism Marketing in 2018.' Dan Peltier wrote, ‘We’ve seen a lot of tried-and-true marketing tactics from destinations this year, but we also saw some newer, smarter strategies on how to use the masses of content and opinions available these days, thanks to social media.’

One trend in the article stood out as an excellent marketing strategy for destinations. It's easily achievable, makes business sense, and surprising that more destinations are not utilizing opportunities to collaborate.

Highlights from Day Two of ITB Berlin 2017

ITB Berlin is the biggest travel trade show event of the year. I've had the privilege of attending it with members of our Sales and Marketing department.

Whether you couldn't make it to ITB or simply couldn't check out everything that's going on, here are some of our favorite highlights from day two in Berlin!

1. ATTA Event - Disruptive Networking Adventure at ITB Berlin 

fullsizeoutput_f31.jpegWe hung out at the Globetrotter stand next to ours in Hall 4.1. They put on an amazing networking event where entrepreneurs, bloggers, activity providers, destination managers, and other members of the tourism sector could meet together. They discussed how to protect and lead responsible tourism efforts worldwide.

 

During the event they had an interactive discussion where each person was encouraged to share one word they feel describes what they do. Our PR Manager Ilse Schoemaker said the word "enable", because we help enable businesses to run more efficiently. It was a great time and we made a lot of fun connections together.

 

2. Digitalization of Croatian Tourism

We enjoyed a few talks in the eTravel World hall, and the last of the afternoon was a talk about the Successful Digitalization of Croatian Tourism. The lecture was presented by Pointers CEO, Krunoslav Weinpert. He was discussing the benefits of VR360 virtual reality technology.

3. Visitors at the Stand 

We've been having a great time at the stand this week! We've gotten to speak with some interesting and unique people over the last two days. We'll be sharing more in the next post, but for now enjoy two of our favorites from yesterday.
