After wrapping up the recent webinar I ran about writing content that converts, it occurred to me that we didn't actually tell you how to set up a blog with your TrekkSoft website.
So without further ado, here's how you do it.
1. Pick a platform to blog on
When it comes to picking a platform to blog on, there are a lot of options out there. A few common ones are Wordpress, Blogspot and Wix.
To keep this post short and sweet, I'll use WordPress as an example.
2. Setup your blog
Pick a template, upload your logos, select fonts and colours and customise your blog to suit your brand.
I created a simple blog for this article in just a few minutes. Okay, it was more like 20 minutes.
3. Link your blog to your TrekkSoft website
From your TrekkSoft dashboard, head over to Design and Pages from the top navigation bar and select Pages from the drop down menu.
You'll be brought to CMS Pages. Here, click on Add Page.
In the Edit CMS Page window, fill in all the fields under Page properties and click on Save.
Note: Make sure to use the full URL, including the "http://" or "https://" bits in the front.
4. Direct people to your blog
From your website, how are people going to find your blog? The easiest and most common way to do this is by adding a button called "Blog" at the top of your navigation page.
Head back to CMS Pages and search for the new Blog page you've created. Drag it to the position you want it to appear on your site's navigation menu.
5. Make sure your blog directs readers back to your site
Depending on the blogging platform you use, how you do this would be a little different. One way to do this is by creating a "Home" button from your blog's navigation menu that would lead readers back to your main TrekkSoft site.
With WordPress, I added a "Home" button at the top navigation bar and linked it back to my site.
