Our readers, the people we write for

The TrekkSoft blog is written for people working in the tourism industry. We focus primarily on tour and activity businesses and the people who own these companies or work at these companies. These could be small marketing teams, soloprenuers, tour guides, and owners of small to medium-sized travel companies.

Our readers are interested in the following:

  • Digital marketing (e.g. Content marketing, email marketing, SEO, social media marketing)
  • Digital advertising on Google, social media or other paid channels
  • Operations management for small to medium-sized businesses
  • Tour and activity industry trends or insights
  • Sustainability in travel and tourism
  • Diversity in travel and tourism

You can choose to write content that applies to the tour and activity industry as a whole, or you can focus your content on a specific vertical within the industry.

Publication guidelines

  • We prefer long-form in-depth blog posts, between 1000 to 1500 words.
  • The post consists of original content that has not been previously published.
  • Your post is well-researched and your ideas are explained clearly.
  • You've included actionable steps so that our readers can take action right after reading your post.
  • No republication on 3rd party websites.
  • Supporting images or content should respect third-party copyright laws.

Writing guidelines and tips

Tone

We write to help tour and activity business owners grow their businesses. With this in mind, we aim for professional and knowledgeable content delivered in a conversational tone of voice. We also encourage writers to add a sprinkle of personality, adventure and fun.

Blogs we like include Zapier, Asana and Intercom.

We will not accept articles that are derogatory, pushy or self-centered.

Writing style

  • Short sentences are better than long sentences.
  • Simple words are better than complex ones. We write for a highly diverse, international audience.
  • Avoid industry jargon or phrases.
  • Avoid too many adjectives. Keep your writing clear rather than descriptive.

Headings

We keep our titles lowercase, apart from the first word of the title.

General writing tips

  • Your writing should draw readers in from the very start. Pay attention to how you start.
  • Do your research. We want articles based on the latest facts and statistics, not just gut feelings or personal experiences. Please use research that is no older than 5 years old.
  • Link and cite all your resources when using statistics, quotes and ideas you referenced.
  • Check your grammar and spelling. We recommend using Grammarly.
  • Keep your paragraphs short and concise. Breakup big blocks of texts and use bullet points if needed.
  • Make sure that your content is well structured. Use subheadings when needed.
  • Ask yourself what the reader gains from this post. What will they learn by the end of the post? Are you giving them enough information to execute your idea by themselves?
  • Would readers want to bookmark the article or share it on social media?
