Bologna Welcome is the destination management company (DMC) for Bologna, the capital of Emilia-Romagna in Northern Italy. They promote Bologna to local and international visitors, and are responsible for developing and managing tourist services.

Challenge

In 2017, Bologna Welcome had a disconnected supplier network, causing a lot of friction for the DMC to resell this inventory to a larger audience.

No standardised booking system: Suppliers had their own systems to take booking.

Losing sales opportunities in popular locations: Suppliers could not easily sell to in-destination visitors because they could not share their inventory.

Lack of online presence: To grow their online presence, Bologna Welcome wanted to showcase all the experiences available in Bologna on their website.

Solution

TrekkSoft provided Bologna Welcome with tools to connect suppliers to resellers at important tourist information points They also resold products on the destination’s official website and strategically selected OTAs.

Today, Bologna Welcome have added almost 40 tours, activities and museum tickets to their website including the Lamborghini and Ducati museums and factories. They resell these experiences at 5 tourist points in Bologna, making up 48% of in-destination bookings.
