How a partner network can bring destination success

Skift recently published a blog titled '4 Trends Defining Tourism Marketing in 2018.' Dan Peltier wrote, ‘We’ve seen a lot of tried-and-true marketing tactics from destinations this year, but we also saw some newer, smarter strategies on how to use the masses of content and opinions available these days, thanks to social media.’

One trend in the article stood out as an excellent marketing strategy for destinations. It's easily achievable, makes business sense, and surprising that more destinations are not utilizing opportunities to collaborate.

Cut out more admin work and save time by integrating your TrekkSoft account to Zapier

Zapier allows you to connect your apps and automate your workflows. Each connection you create is called a Zap. It is commonly used to automate repetitive tasks without having to learn a single line of code.

Apps include Facebook, Gmail, MailChimp, and even TrekkSoft; while a workflow is a series of actions that happen in a specific order. A workflow therefore begins with a trigger action.

Say you want to create an invoice for each booking, you can easily set that up with Zapier. Here, your Zap is the connection between your booking software and your accounting software, your trigger is a new booking received via TrekkSoft's booking system, and the workflow is the task of creating an invoice.

The beauty of Zapier is that you can connect TrekkSoft to over 1000 apps and create workflows that streamline your marketing or admin efforts, giving you more time to deliver unforgettable tours and activities.

With the TrekkSoft and Zapier integration, you can export Guest Details and Booking Details from TrekkSoft to any other 3rd party app. Here are some other examples of Zaps you can set up between TrekkSoft, Zapier and other 3rd party apps:

  • Each buying user created in TrekkSoft creates a new Subscriber in MailChimp or Drip
  • Each buying user created in TrekkSoft creates a new Lead in SalesForce
  • Each buying user or booking created in TrekkSoft creates a new sheet record in Google Sheets


Interested in setting up a Zap between your TrekkSoft account and another app? Here are some things to consider:

  1. What problem are you trying to solve? Will automating this task save you time and energy?
  2. Are you already using this 3rd party app? (Bear in mind that you will need to create a Zapier account and an account for the 3rd party app you want to use.)
  3. Will there be any additional costs, a monthly subscription perhaps, to use this app?

How to create a Zap between TrekkSoft and MailChimp

This is how you would set up a Zap between TrekkSoft and MailChimp where every new buying user will be added to your mailing list on MailChimp as a Subscriber. The setup process would be similar to other apps you might want to integrate your booking engine with.

You will need to contact your Account Manager to activate your Zapier integration. Once that is done, you can create your first Zap by logging into Zapier.


1. Select a trigger

Select an action needs to happen in TrekkSoft for a Zap to be triggered. You will then be prompted to log in to your TrekkSoft account.

2. Select an Action

Here, first select the app you want to perform the action, which will be MailChimp. Then, select an action you want MailChimp to perform. After that, you will again be prompted to log in to your MailChimp account.

3. Select the mailing list

You'll be shown all the mailing lists you've created in MailChimp. Select the list you want the new Subscriber to be added to.


4. Map TrekkSoft data with MailChimp data

This will be the trickiest part of the entire process. But once you get the hang of it, setting up other Zaps will be a lot easier.

Mapping data basically means matching data between both TrekkSoft and MailChimp. In this case, you'll match "Subscriber email" in MailChimp to "Guest email" in TrekkSoft. Similarly, you'll match "Subscriber name" in MailChimp to "Guest name" in TrekkSoft.

Continue to configure the rest of your settings and remember to review your data at the end.

5. Activate your Zap

Finally, you'll be asked to activate the Zap. Turn it on and you're good to go!
