How a partner network can bring destination success

We’ve been writing a lot recently about marketing for Destination Management Organizations (DMOs). You can check out our free eBook ‘The Destination Marketing Handbook’, which is filled with useful tips on how to market your destinations and experiences.

Skift recently published a blog titled '4 Trends Defining Tourism Marketing in 2018.' Dan Peltier wrote, ‘We’ve seen a lot of tried-and-true marketing tactics from destinations this year, but we also saw some newer, smarter strategies on how to use the masses of content and opinions available these days, thanks to social media.’

One trend in the article stood out as an excellent marketing strategy for destinations. It's easily achievable, makes business sense, and surprising that more destinations are not utilizing opportunities to collaborate.

5 reasons we think tour & activity operators should attend WTM 2018

It's not long until we attend World Travel Market 2018, London, for another year. This is one of the largest exhibitions in the travel industry. It is attended by over 5,000 exhibitors and 51,000 travel trade professionals who are all ready to do business.

WTM is also an incredible opportunity to explore, learn industry insights and meet new and established connections face to face. Plus, it's free to attend!

So, if you are in London on 5th-7th November 2018 we want to meet you. And here are a few reasons why you should consider signing up:

1. Get industry insights

If you want to find out more about the tourism & travel sector from industry experts, then this is the place to be. Not only are exhibitors representing the leading marketplaces, platforms, DMOs and booking systems, they also have calendar availability where you can book one on one appointments throughout your visit.

If you'd like to gather more industry insights, then WTM also have a packed events calendar that you are welcome to attend. You can view the calendar for 2018 here. We recommend booking your place early as these events will become fully booked.

2. Compare brands

If you aren't sure which marketplace or products are right for your business, then WTM will give you a great opportunity to compare. You can prepare a list of questions in advance, trial any software, ask for examples, and review the results and costs.

3. Network with other businesses

As a delegate, you will also have your own calendar to create meetings throughout your visit to WTM. You can book appointments with exhibitors that are in attendance, and meetings with other delegates that you would like to connect with. We recommend reaching out to your LinkedIn and business connections at least 2 weeks before the exhibition to check their schedule.

WTM also offers speed networking events that include 5-minute mini-meetings where you can find relevant leads and make new contacts. Find out more here.

4. Source new technology

We always think it's useful to see new technology in person, that's why we attend WTM each year. This year, we are located in the TRAVEL FORWARD hall and will be joined by a range of tech companies offering solutions for the tourism & travel sector.

If you would like to find out more about TrekkSoft, you can book a meeting with a member of our team here, or you can visit us in Hall: N10, Stand: TT651.

5. Enjoy an event with like-minded people

It's refreshing to get out of the office and talk all things tourism with other business professionals. WTM can give your business an extra boost by finding new connections, sourcing tech solutions, and finding out what to expect for 2019.

We know it's going to be a great event, and we hope to see you there!
