Our 3 favorite highlights from WTM London 2016

TrekkSoft sent a team of 13 to London this year to meet, learn from and grow with people from all over the world. World Travel Market is the place to connect with and build up a diverse, innovative network of experts in the tourism industry. We found ourselves meeting with longtime customers, brand new companies and tastemakers; but above all, we spent the week among friends. 

Three days went quickly and it's hard to believe it's already over, but we brought the inspiration back with us to Interlaken! That's why we want to take a moment to showcase some of our favorite parts of the week.

Highlights from our favorite seminars

Is Pokemon Go the best we can expect from augmented reality?

Daniel Eglof from Basel Tourism capitalized on Pokemon Go with a fun Youtube video, using it to draw in crowds. Nicholas Larson from Timelooper is helping people take a tour of some of the most beloved tourist locations in the world -- but it comes with a twist. Through virtual reality, their tours help people see iconic locations during some of the most pivotal moments in history.  

In this half hour seminar, we were offered a glimpse into how augmented reality could change the way we do tours. Could this be the future of tourism?

If you've been to Philadelphia in recent years, you may have noticed the successful effects of tourism marketing agency Visit Philadelphia. Formed in 1996, they have been early adapters of social media and have become trendsetters on how to successfully build an area's image. 

In this seminar, Visit Philadelphia's president and CEO Meryl Levitz and vice president Paula Butler discuss how they went from zero to hero with their social media efforts. They discuss valuable techniques and tools, including ideas that could boost your Facebook marketing strategy.

Mastering Social First Content to Deliver an ROI on Social Media with Jeremy Jauncey

Founder of Beautiful Destinations, Jeremy Jauncey is one of the most influential individuals in the popularity of travel photography on social media. With 5.5 million followers and a combined 200 million likes, he helps paint a picture of "social first" content is a key in developing an effective influencer strategy. 

This longer seminar offers an in-depth look at social media tactics. It highlights the importance of using new technologies and producing content for a stronger return on investment.
