2018 in Review: In conversation with our CEO and CTO

2018 was a big year in the tours and activities sector and discussed this in our recent webinar with Olan O'Sullivan, our CEO, and Jason Roe, our CTO. They shared their thoughts about industry changes in 2018 and how TrekkSoft plans to keep our customers at the top of their game.

Here are some highlights from the webinar.

Rental Rules: The perfect tool to optimise your rentals and grow your revenue

You've asked for this and we listened. We took your feedback on board, turned it into a tangible feature update, beta tested it and released it in all its glory.

TrekkSoft's rental feature now lets you set different rates for your rentals, depending on the duration of the rental. For tour or activity operators who want to make a little extra cash on the side, renting out your spare equipment could be a good idea for you.

Stick around to find out what else our rental feature can do.

Start with basic rental schedules

The rental feature was built for companies to rent out their equipment either as a main source of income or as a side-hustle to create an additional revenue stream.

In TrekkSoft, this can be easily done with Rental Schedules.

With Rental Schedules, you'll be able to specify the number of rentals available per time slot. So if you have 50 bicycles to rent out, you won't be receiving bookings for the 51st bike.

Another thing you can do is set your opening times so that customers know when you're open for business and when they have to return your rentals. You can also set the maximum duration an item can be rented for, including the option for multi-day rentals.

Early this year, we built and beta tested Rental Rules and released it to all of our users. You can now assign different rates according to the duration a rental is booked for.

For example, you can charge €6 for the first 5 hours, €5 for the next 5 hours, and €4 for the remaining hours.

If you'd like to set this up with your TrekkSoft account, head over to our support pages on Rentals and Rental Rules.

Marketing strategies for your rentals

If you're looking to expand your presence with a specific target market, you can offer them discount codes to entice them to book with you. With TrekkSoft, you can generate discount codes and distribute them in your marketing materials.

With rentals, you can further increase your margins by offering add-ons to upsell your customers. Say someone rents your diving gear for a day, with TrekkSoft, you can also offer them Add-ons like an underwater photo package to capture the experience or a hotel transfer service to make it easier for them to get to you. These options will be presented to your customers at checkout and they can easily select an Add-on to add to their basket.
